Meet our Director
Jayne started her career at Robins Harris in 2010 as a secretary while she completed her degree part time at The University of South Australia. As her education and experience developed she became a junior accountant; assisting with client taxation and accounting matters.
After completing her degree in 2015, Jayne completed her Chartered Accountant qualification whilst simultaneously assuming the role of Director at Robins Harris.
Jayne has a passion for helping her clients achieve the best outcomes possible and isn’t afraid of a challenge. She takes the time to get know her clients on a personal level and always makes herself available to them for advice when they need it.
Jayne is a country girl at heart, who loves spending time in the regional areas of South Australia in particular the wine regions and the Eyre Peninsula. She is heavily involved with local sport as a board member and netball player at the Adelaide Lutheran Sports Club. Jayne is a local Adelaide resident who enjoys spending her free time at the beach with her border collie Pippa, who you may see around the office from time to time.
Robins Harris has a long and proud history in South Australia starting with Mr Eric K. Robins in 1956. Mr Robins was originally based in Hutt Street for many years and was the first to establish an accounting practice in Elizabeth. Mr and Mrs Robins were founding members of the Elizabeth community and played an important role in the development of the district. Mr Robins was part of the inaugural Central Districts Football Club team and a lifelong supporter. He served on many of the local community committees, in particular was a board member of the Lyell McEwin Hospital during its development, all the while expanding his accounting practice. He established offices in Eastwood, the Barossa Valley, the Riverland and the Northern Territory, building Robins Harris into a well-known and reputable name.
Mr Robins was a big believer in education and over the years supported many of his staff through further education, such as TAFE, University and the professional accounting programs. He himself had a diploma in accounting, a degree with honours, was a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants ANZ and CPA Australia, a Chartered Tax Advisor with the Tax Institute, a Company Auditor, SMSF Auditor, a member of both the Chartered Secretaries and Australian Institute of Company Directors, and the list goes on. He was a force of his generation and helped shaped the accounting profession of today. His clients were always at the forefront of his mind and many attribute their wealth and success to Eric’s tireless and client focused efforts.
Mr Eric K. Robins sadly passed away in April 2019 and the practice was left to his final student Miss Jayne Paterson. Eric took Jayne under his wing ten years earlier when she moved from the country to Adelaide for her University studies. Eric mentored Jayne throughout her studies to become a Chartered Accountant and ultimately to become the Managing Director of Robins Harris. He believed in her capabilities and trusted her judgment to continue his legacy and provide clients with the quality service and advice they had become accustom to.
With an ever-changing working environment and mobile technology, Robins Harris now has one office location at 139 Greenhill Road, Unley SA, but still services clients from all over South Australia and interstate.
